2022 Graduation Makeup Looks
By Rama Hijazi, Makeup Artist
Graduation is the biggest occasion in the lives of students entering a new phase. Walking across the stage and getting the diploma is an event that deserves time and effort. Here are three makeup ideas to inspire your graduate’s 2022 celebratory look.
Bold Red Lip
Although girls like to keep their graduation makeup simple these days, a bold red lip is a timeless option for graduates who like to stand out and want to show they are celebrating a significant milestone!
You need to make sure you have a flawless base to accompany the red lip for this look.
Start with a primer that suits your skin type, either a mattifying one if you have oily skin or a hydrating one if you have dry skin.
Next, use a full coverage foundation that matches your skin tone to unify your tone and look flawless in professional pictures. Use your favourite concealer to conceal imperfections and highlight the high points of your face: the corner of your eyes towards your temples, the centre of your forehead, the bridge of your nose and your chin. Set your base with a translucent powder.
Put your bronzer, blush and highlighter as you would typically do.
Moving on to the eyes, keep it simple by using neutral shades over your lids and drawing a simple eyeliner. Finish the eyes with mascara and a waterline eyeliner of your choice, black, nude, or neutral colours like brown and dark green.
For the star of the show, line your lips with a red lip liner and top it off with your favourite red lipstick. Use red lipstick that has blue undertones to make your teeth appear whiter.
Soft cut-crease with a cat eyeliner
This look is effortlessly beautiful and looks very put-together and elegant.
Start with the same base as the red lip look.
For the eyes, put a cream shade all over the lid up to the brow bone, emphasising the colour on the lid.
Using a neutral medium brown eyeshadow, draw a line emphasising your crease, and slowly start blending it upwards while keeping a sharp line between the lid and crease.
To further blend it towards the brow bone, use a lighter brown shade and keep blending.
Use the medium brown shade to line your lower lash line, then use the lighter shade to smoke it out.
Lastly, use a good black liquid eyeliner to draw a cat eyeliner. Start from the corner of your bottom lash line and draw a line towards the end of your brow. Draw a line following your upper lash line and connect these two lines. The eyeliner’s thickness is up to you!
Finish the eyes with fluttery lashes using either a volumising and lengthening mascara or a pair of fluffy lashes.
Finish the look with your favourite nude lip combination of lipliner lipstick and lip gloss!
Soft Glam Makeup
This is a very feminine, timeless look that will make you glow on your graduation day!
Start with the same base of primer, foundation, concealer and powder.
Use a warm-toned bronzer on the outer corners of your forehead, cheekbones, and jawline and to contour your nose. Then, use a peach-toned blush on the high points of your cheeks and the bridge of your nose. Lastly, use a golden-toned highlighter on the tops of your cheeks, the tip and corners of your nose, your brow bone and your cupid’s bow.
For the eyes, use a shimmery champagne eyeshadow on your lids, and then use a neutral brown shade on your crease and your lower lash line. Use a liquid eyeliner to draw a thin line on your lash line and extend it for an elongated eye shape. Finish the look with a thick, fluttery pair of lashes and your favourite lip gloss to add femininity and glam to the look.
